SAGE meets in Regensburg

Three days (19. – 21. March) the SAGE consortium worked on cooperation strategies for safe and green vehicle concepts in the future.

 

„Future urban mobility“

The meeting took place in the New Town Hall and the IT-Speicher in Regensburg. It has been organised by the City of Regensburg that also coordinates the Regensburg e-mobility cluster. Among the more than 25 participants were representatives of the automotive cluster Paris, the region of western Sweden and the region Piedmont with the city Torino, also members oft he automotive cluster Warsaw. 

A region respectively a cluster contains a representative from an economic organisation, an education organisation and a regional authority. In Regensburg take part the City of Regensburg with  the Economic Development Department, the University of applied sciences, represented by Professor Jürgen Mottok (Laboratory for Safe and Secure Systems), and Continental. Regensburg operates with its competence as expelled automotive supplier.

Lord Mayor Hans Schaidinger welcomed the guests at a reception in the Old Town Hall. He was proud of having such a top class consortium in Regensburg. “Mobility - one of the most important achievements in human civilisation and coeval an important location factor – is confronted with far reaching changes. The topic electro mobility is an important part for the development of the future urban mobility”, mentioned Schaidinger.

An objective of SAGE is the Identification of project themes and cooperation partners in the single regions for common development and market activities. The SAGE-Consortium also positions itself on an international level: In a first step regions in Asia are chosen, that are expected as future markets for electro mobility and cooperation proposals because of their activities.

 

Full-electric Demo car

The e-mobility cluster presented itself with partners of the NEMO network “intelligent charging techniques”, the competence of AVL Software & Functions in e-mobility, the racing car of the University’s regenics team and the IT Inkubator of eastern Bavaria. A highlight has been the visitation of the Continental site in Regensburg: An impressive amount of 360,000 electronic parts – from airbag to motor management – daily leaves the ultra modern assembly hall and betakes the way to all OEM’s world wide. Intelligent electro mobility presented Continental with its full electric Demo car: Its equipped with a lot high tech intricacies.

“With our distinctive competences in the area of automotive suppliers, we position the Regensburg business location at the European stage and develop our e-mobility cluster”, declares Dieter Daminger, consultant for economy, science and finances of the City of Regensburg. The next workshop of all project partners will take place in June 2012 in Torino.
